September Bookish Colorway: Casting Scars

This listing is for the September installment of our 2026 Bookish Club! The book we chose this month is Heartless Hunter by Kristen Cicarelli, the first in the Crimson Moth duology. This was one of my Maddy's club picks, and while it's a lot less spicy than our other club books (it is YA after all!) the yearning between the MCs was incredibly written and the blood magic used by our FMC, Rune, is very unique. In a world where magic is forbidden, punishable by death, witches must hide not only their use of magic but the casting scars they earn by cutting themselves for their magic.
This colorway was inspired by the covers of both books, leaning into the royal/high society vibes, as Rune (in addition to being a witch in hiding) is a lady, after all. A vibrant purple, with a touch of blue, this colorway blends BEAUTIFULLY with our other club colorways! It dyes up to be very muted on NSW, while the SW and yaks are each quite variegated and bright!
If you have a subscription, you should be all set! This listing is for individual skeins, NOT for the year-long subscription (so it will not auto-renew), and this colorway will be open through September 5th around 7pm EST! Your yarn will be dyed immediately, and shipped by September 15th.
Our 2026 Bookish Club as a whole will include twelve brand new variegated colorways inspired by some of our favorite (spicy 🌶️) reads! While some of the books we've chosen to showcase have quickly gained a lot of popularity in bookish communities, we also selected some of our favorite books that were self-published by indie authors. There is a lot of talent out there bringing a wide range of characters and stories to life, and we want to do our part to show support to indie authors, while maybe introducing you to a few. Please pay attention to trigger warnings for the books that inspired the colorways in this club, and check out the authors' websites for more specific info.
Note: Unlike our last club, this club will not be a fade. The colorways will coordinate to work as part of a cohesive collection, but we would rather put energy into creating colorways we love, inspired by books and authors we love, than limit ourselves to fade the colorways from month-to-month.

Care information
We recommend hand-washing all of your projects and laying them flat to dry, even if they are made using superwashed fibers! This will help to extend the life of your projects, as well as maintain their vibrant colors and overall fitted shape. We love using a gentle wool wash, such as Eucalan or Soak wool wash, to clean projects made with hand-dyed yarn.
